What is IPL and What Does It Do?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. We’ve got two main players in aesthetic laser treatments at Timeless Elements and IPL has certainly earned its place for treatment of brown and red pigmentation, red flushing skin, rosacea, dull complexion, as well as a reduction in pore size. IPL treatments are safe, effective and can be applied to most skin types. IPL is administered in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area to penetrate the sub-surface skin layers, where it is absorbed by blood vessels and pigmentation. The heat that follows next in the treatment helps to repair the vessel or lesion so that your body can begin its natural healing process.
Treatments range from 15-30 minutes in duration and many clients liken the sensation to that of having a rubber band snapped on the skin. A bit of a surprise, but any discomfort dissipates quickly. Any post-treatment sensitivity or swelling usually resolves itself in under 48 hours and you’re left with smoother, more even-toned skin like that youthful skin of your past! While many patients see significant improvement after 2-3 treatments, others with more significant damage may need additional treatment.
